Försäkringskassan procedures regarding death and benefits

In Sweden, Försäkringskassan automatically halts payments for pensions, sickness benefits, and other compensations once a death is registered via Skatteverket. To receive survivor's pensions, transition pensions, or child pensions, applications must be submitted separately.

Estate management involves several legal steps, including the inventory of assets (bouppteckning), which Skatteverket typically processes within four to eight weeks of submission. The inventory must generally be held within three months of death, and the formal estate inventory must be submitted to Skatteverket within four months.
