Fürth Michaelis-Kirchweih festival set for October 2026
The Michaelis-Kirchweih festival in Fürth is scheduled to take place from October 3 to October 14, 2026. As one of Southern Germany's largest street festivals and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site, the event is expected to attract approximately 1.5 million visitors to the city center.
Official festivities begin on Saturday, October 3, with an opening ceremony at the Stadttheater featuring speeches by Mayor Dr. Thomas Jung, the dean, and the Harvest Queen. The program includes traditional fanfare, the tapping of the first beer barrel, and a fireworks display.
Organizers have announced a last-minute change regarding the opening fireworks. Instead of the usual launch from the parking garage deck at Freiheit, the display will instead be launched from the Adenauer-Anlage. This change follows previous confusion regarding launch locations, and spectators are advised to position themselves near Friedrichstraße or Gustav-Schickedanz-Straße for optimal views.
