Frugal Fannie’s Fashion Warehouse to close after 43 years

Frugal Fannie’s Fashion Warehouse in Westwood, Massachusetts, is closing after 43 years of operation. Owners Kathleen and Orrin Doxer announced the decision, citing health considerations, the retirement of key staff, and the expiration of their lease with no option for renewal.

Since opening in 1983, the warehouse-style retailer has served the Greater Boston area and New England by offering discounted designer and brand-name women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories. The company previously operated four locations before consolidating into its flagship Westwood warehouse.

A liquidation sale is scheduled to begin Thursday, September 24. In a statement, Kathleen Doxer expressed sadness over the closure, noting that the store and its employees had become like family. The company stated there will be no layoffs, and employees staying until the permanent closure will receive a stay bonus.
