Fruit industry updates: Bollo Natural Fruit enters vending and Zespri reports kiwi growth

At the Fruit Attraction 2026 trade fair in Madrid, several developments in the fruit and vending sectors were highlighted. Spanish company Bollo Natural Fruit announced its entry into the vending market with a line of ready-to-eat, IV gamma fresh fruit. The range, which includes melon, pineapple, and watermelon, is designed for vending machines in offices, hospitals, schools, and transport hubs. CEO Antonio Alarcón stated the goal is to make premium fruit as accessible as pressing a button, though the model faces logistical challenges regarding shelf life and cold chain management.

In the global kiwi market, Zespri reported a 16% increase in SunGold™ kiwi production for the 2026 season, totaling approximately 28 million trays. This growth was supported by strong performance from orchards in the Northern Hemisphere, including Italy. By integrating production between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, Zespri aims to ensure a continuous year-round supply of premium kiwi to global markets.
