Fruit producers in China and Japan implement summer management strategies

Agricultural management initiatives are being implemented in China and Japan to optimize fruit production during the summer season.

In Muping District, China, the Rural Revitalization Service Center has launched a “field classroom” model to assist fruit farmers facing high temperatures and uneven precipitation. The program provides hands-on training in orchard canopy optimization, flood damage prevention, and soil fertility improvement through organic fertilization. The initiative aims to address issues such as orchard overcrowding and soil degradation to ensure stable yields.

In Aomori Prefecture, Japan, recent production reports indicate that fruit enlargement for various apple varieties is exceeding average levels. The harvest for the Tsugaru variety is expected to begin around September 5 in Kuroishi. Farmers are advised to conduct thorough on-tree fruit selection and take precautions against sunscald, bird damage, and wind damage from potential typhoons to maintain high product quality.
