Fruta del Norte mine produces 118,994 ounces of gold in Q2 2026, keeping annual outlook

Lundin Gold reported that its Fruta del Norte mine in southeastern Ecuador produced 118,994 ounces of gold in the second quarter of 2026, comprising 79,208 ounces of concentrate and 39,786 ounces of doré. The output was lower than the 139,433 ounces generated in the same quarter of 2025 but matched the company's expectation that Q2 would be the weakest quarter of the year. CEO Jamie Beck said, “The production of the second quarter, of 118,994 ounces of gold, in what was expected to be the weakest quarter of the year, highlights the robustness of our operations.” The plant processed 500,143 tonnes of ore at an average rate of 5,496 tonnes per day, with an average grade of 8.3 g/t and an 89.1 % recovery rate, despite a scheduled nine‑day maintenance shutdown.

Lundin sold 110,385 ounces of gold in the quarter at an average price of $4,359 per ounce, higher than the $3,361 per ounce achieved in Q2 2025. For the first half of 2026 the mine processed 996,941 tonnes, producing 238,736 ounces that were sold at $4,662 per ounce. The company remains on track to meet its 2026 production guidance of 475,000‑525,000 ounces.

In June, Lundin Gold signed a renewable‑energy purchase agreement with Barka Capital’s Hidroquest hydroelectric project. The deal will supply 20 MW initially, up to 27 MW as demand grows, allowing the mine to become self‑sufficient and reduce reliance on the public power grid.
