FS Group announces major railway infrastructure investments
FS Group President Tommaso Tanzilli has outlined a massive strategic development plan for Italy's railway network, highlighting approximately 1,300 active construction sites. Of these, 700 are dedicated to new works and 600 to the maintenance and enhancement of the existing network.
Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) is projected to invest roughly 12 billion euros in 2026. These efforts are supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which involves approximately 25 billion euros in related interventions to accelerate infrastructure projects.
In Teramo, RFI is set to begin a 26 million euro renovation of the station and its accessory structures by the end of the year. Funded by the PNRR, the Program Contract, and municipal contributions, the project includes a 3 million euro restyling of the passenger building. The works are expected to be completed by 2028.
