Fès-Meknès launches new tourism investment projects
The Fès-Meknès Regional Investment Center is launching several initiatives to bolster tourism in the region through new infrastructure and accommodation projects.
In the provinces of Boulemane, Taounate, and El Hajeb, the Center has issued a call for tenders for five new tourism projects on public land. These include guest houses in the Tichoukt and Arjane areas of Boulemane, a three-star tourist residence in Taounate designed in the traditional Jbala style, and two forest-based projects in El Hajeb consisting of a four-star campsite and a guest house.
Additionally, the city of Fès is preparing to launch an international call for interest for a panoramic cable car project. Designed to provide views of the ancient medina and its surroundings, the project aims to diversify tourist activities and encourage longer stays. To protect the UNESCO World Heritage site, technical requirements mandate that cable car lines and stations remain outside the urban fabric of the medina to preserve its historical and architectural integrity. The project is expected to span between 1,500 and 3,500 meters and must be completed within 24 months of commencement.
