FSB releases surveillance footage of 2024 Crocus City Hall attack

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has released previously unseen surveillance footage from the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack that occurred on March 22, 2024. The footage, released in three parts, depicts four armed attackers moving through the halls of the venue, concertgoers attempting to find cover, and the subsequent outbreak of a fire that caused part of the roof to collapse.

The attack, which took place just before a performance by the rock band Piknik, resulted in 149 deaths and hundreds of injuries. While ISIS-K claimed responsibility for the massacre, the release of this footage coincides with a ruling by the Russian Supreme Court designating the organization of Batal-Hadzhi Belkhoroyev, based in Ingushetia, as a terrorist group. The FSB alleges this group assisted in the logistics of the attack by procuring weapons and ammunition.

Regarding legal consequences, a Russian military court recently sentenced 19 individuals for their roles in the attack, with 15 of them receiving life imprisonment.
