FSC Chairman Peng Jin-long outlines financial development goals
Peng Jin-long, Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), has outlined his strategic vision through what he calls the ‘three wishes of peace, safety, and reassurance.’ His primary goals include ensuring public health and safety, promoting financial market development under stable conditions, and building a secure financial environment for citizens by strengthening consumer protection and anti-fraud measures.
To drive economic growth, Peng identified five key work priorities: advancing the ‘Asia Asset Management Center’ national project, constructing an international-level capital market, refining the regulatory framework for virtual asset services, adapting regulations to environmental changes, and encouraging financial innovation.
Regarding recent market speculation concerning potential bank mergers, the FSC Banking Bureau stated that it has not received any formal applications for mergers. Officials emphasized that the commission’s role is to maintain a fair and open legal environment, allowing financial institutions to pursue growth strategies independently while ensuring all significant developments are disclosed through official public information channels.
