FSSAI issues food safety guidelines and reinstates factory license
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued safety guidelines regarding fasting ingredients used during Navratri, specifically highlighting the risks associated with buckwheat flour (kuttu atta). Due to increased demand, the agency warned that improper storage in moist environments can lead to mold, fungus, and the development of toxic mycotoxins. Consumers are advised to check for proper packaging, expiry dates, and signs of discoloration or musty odors before purchase.
In related regulatory news, Balaram Mullick & Radharaman Mullick Sweet Pvt. Ltd. has had its factory license reinstated following the completion of corrective actions required by the FSSAI. The company clarified that the previous regulatory action applied specifically to its B. L. Saha Road premises and did not affect its Tollygunge outlet or other locations. Following the reinstatement, the company announced the opening of a new outlet in Kalighat to expand its presence in Kolkata.
