FSSAI suspends Seven Seas Hospitality license over food safety violations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the food business license of Seven Seas Hospitality Private Limited with immediate effect following a major inspection. The regulatory action comes after the company received a compliance score of only 30 percent, placing it in the ‘non-compliance’ category.

Inspectors reported severe hygiene and sanitation failures at the facility, including standing water, foul odors, and widespread filth. During the inspection, officials discovered moldy food items such as tomatoes, papaya, jaggery, and cashews, along with rotten bell peppers and blackened, degraded cooking oil. Approximately 74 kilograms of non-compliant food materials were destroyed on-site.

Significant storage and infrastructural violations were also documented. The company failed to properly separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian products, and water was observed dripping from cold storage units onto food items. Additional issues included refrigeration leaks, excessive ice buildup, inadequate ventilation, poor lighting, and the presence of cockroaches and flies. The company has been ordered to cease all food business activities until further notice.
