FSV Zwickau beats FC Carl Zeiss Jena 2-1 in Regionalliga opener

In the opening match of the Regionalliga Nordost, FSV Zwickau defeated FC Carl Zeiss Jena 2‑1. Philipp Harant scored the decisive goal ten minutes from time after a counter‑attack, giving Zwickau a 2‑1 lead. The victory came in the first game under new Zwickau coach Marco Grote.

In a separate Bezirksliga Nord fixture, VfR Garching won its debut against newly promoted FC Phönix München 5‑1. Player‑coach Mike Niebauer netted two goals, while his brother Dennis added a penalty. The win highlighted Garching’s strong start to the season.

Both matches attracted modest crowds, with around 9,000 spectators in Zwickau and 130 in Garching, and featured early goals that set the tone for decisive victories.
