FTCCI conference urges MSMEs to adopt energy-efficient technologies

The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) hosted a conference in Hyderabad focused on cost optimisation and future energy technologies for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The event aimed to address rising energy costs and sustainability expectations by discussing energy audits, renewable energy adoption, smart energy management, and green financing.

Industry leaders noted that MSMEs contribute approximately 30% of India’s GDP and 48% of its exports. FTCCI President K. K. Maheshwari stated that competitiveness is increasingly tied to efficient production and resource management. Sushil Kumar Sancheti, Chair of the FTCCI Energy Committee, highlighted that while energy-saving measures can significantly boost profitability for MSMEs—which often operate on thin margins of 5–10%—the current adoption rate of such technologies remains low.

The conference, supported by SIDBI and the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH), emphasized the need for greater reliance on renewable energy and affordable energy-efficient devices to reduce dependence on costly grid power.
