Fteri Beach in Greece Ranked 2nd Best Worldwide, Cyprus' Nissi Beach 2nd Best in Europe for 2026

Fteri Beach on the Greek island of Cephalonia was named the second‑best beach in the world for 2026 by The World’s 50 Best Beaches, a ranking compiled from the votes of more than 1,000 travel experts. The beach is praised for its white‑limestone cliffs, crystal‑clear turquoise water and limited visitor numbers due to its remote access by boat or steep hiking trail.

In Cyprus, Nissi Beach on the island’s southern coast was placed second in the 2026 European Beach Index published by UK travel‑insurance specialist Quotezone. The ranking follows a review of temperature, visitor reviews, accommodation costs and other factors. Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis said the sector is now on a stable recovery path, citing recent tourism revenue figures. The same report highlighted a 7 % rise in first‑half 2026 profit for the Bank of Cyprus and a continued upward trend in the Cypriot property market, with July 2026 seeing a record 2,040 sale contracts.
