Fátima hosts 52nd National Meeting of Fraternal Gatherings

The 52nd National Meeting of Fraternal Gatherings (ENCF) took place in Fátima on September 5 and 6, bringing together young people from various dioceses across Portugal. Under the theme ‘United to Serve,’ the event included prayer, workshops, and formation sessions held at locations such as the Sanctuary of Fátima and the Paulo VI Pastoral Center.

During the closing Mass, the Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Rui Valério, addressed the assembly, emphasizing that Christian unity is rooted in Christ rather than mere social affinity. He challenged participants to move beyond individual salvation and personal comfort, stating that a true encounter with Christ must result in a responsibility toward others and a commitment to service.

Valério urged the youth to combat indifference and to approach evangelization through listening and proximity rather than authority. He encouraged them not to wait for perfection or complete knowledge before serving their communities, but to act with a spirit of service and truth.
