Fátima Sanctuary marks 109 years since fourth apparition

The Sanctuary of Fátima marked the 109th anniversary of the fourth apparition of Our Lady to the three shepherd children in Valinhos, near Aljustrel, which occurred on August 19, 1917.

During a Mass at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Rector Carlos Cabecinhas highlighted the children's legacy of prayer. He noted that the apparition in August was significant as it contained the repeated exhortation to ‘pray, pray very much,’ a central theme of the Fátima message. The event took place after the children had been detained by local authorities in Ourém earlier that month to investigate the reported visions.
