FTR wrestlers reveal Stokely Hathaway alliance was first pitched in WWE

Professional wrestler Dax Harwood revealed that the alliance between the tag team FTR and manager Stokely Hathaway was originally pitched to WWE management during the team's tenure with the company. Harwood and partner Cash Wheeler had observed Hathaway’s work on the independent circuit and believed his charisma and humor would complement their throwback persona.

After transitioning to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Harwood presented the concept to AEW president Tony Khan. Harwood described Hathaway as a potential ‘Jim Cornette’ figure for the team. Since April 2025, the trio has appeared together on television, with Hathaway providing a distinct heel dynamic. Wheeler noted that Hathaway’s ability to shift between comedic and serious tones, along with his business acumen, makes him a vital addition to the group.
