FTX launches $900 million fifth creditor payout

FTX Trading Ltd. and the FTX Recovery Trust will begin a fifth distribution of roughly $900 million to eligible creditors on July 31, 2026. The payout covers allowed Convenience and Non‑Convenience class claims that met the June 16 record‑date requirements. Distribution service providers BitGo, Kraken and Payoneer will handle the disbursements, with most recipients expected to receive funds within one to three business days.

The distribution adds an incremental 9 % to Class 5A Dotcom Customer Entitlement Claims and 5 % to Class 5B U.S. Customer Entitlement Claims, bringing cumulative recoveries for those classes to 105 %. Classes 6A and 6B each receive a 3 % increment (103 % cumulative), while Class 7 Convenience Claims reach a cumulative 120 %. A separate Preferred Shareholder Remission Fund Trust payment of $18 million will also be made on the same day, raising total preferred‑equity payouts to $95 million.

The payout follows the Chapter 11 plan that has already returned roughly $10 billion to creditors, one of the largest recoveries in cryptocurrency bankruptcy history. It comes a day after the U.S. Senate passed a resolution rejecting clemency for former FTX founder Sam Bankman‑Fried, underscoring ongoing political and regulatory scrutiny of the collapse.
