Croatian government caps fuel prices, diesel up 5 cents
The Croatian government approved two emergency decrees to limit the rise of fuel prices for the next 14 days. The maximum retail price for standard gasoline remains at €1.54 per litre, while diesel rises to €1.59 per litre (+€0.05) and blue diesel to €1.02 per litre (+€0.06). LPG for storage tanks costs €1.23 per kilogram (+€0.02) and LPG in bottles €1.81 per kilogram (+€0.02). The measures also lower the fuel excise by €0.01 per litre and reduce distributor margins by €0.02 per litre for gasoline, diesel and blue diesel. Officials said without the decrees the prices would have been €1.66 for gasoline, €1.72 for diesel, €1.05 for blue diesel and €2.02 per kilogram for bottled LPG.
On Croatian highways, where the price caps do not apply, fuel is priced higher. Data from the Croatian Automobile Club show that, depending on the distributor, diesel and gasoline are 6‑23 cents per litre more expensive than at off‑highway stations. INA and Tifon stations charge about €1.60 for gasoline and €1.67 for diesel, while Petrol stations are slightly higher. Premium fuel grades are also pricier, with gasoline 95 premium at €1.68 and diesel premium at €1.79 per litre.
The government’s intervention aims to soften the impact of international oil price volatility on consumers during the peak tourist season.
