Slovenian fuel pricing is determined by a methodology involving international derivative prices and the EUR/USD exchange rate, using seven-day market averages. This means domestic price changes often lag behind global market shifts.

On a broader scale, global fuel prices vary drastically due to taxes, subsidies, and energy policies. While the global average for gasoline is approximately 1.5 US dollars per liter, countries like Libya, Iran, and Venezuela offer extremely low prices due to heavy state subsidies, sometimes making fuel cheaper than bottled water.
