Fuel prices are rising across the Balkan region. In Serbia, the government has increased maximum retail prices for Eurodiesel to 231 dinars and gasoline to 202 dinars per liter, while extending the price cap decree for another 60 days. Simultaneously, the Serbian Ministry of Finance announced a nearly 981 million euro support package for citizens, with specific payments for pensioners and social aid recipients scheduled for September.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, fuel costs are also climbing, with diesel in Banja Luka reaching 3.44 KM per liter. Local distributors attribute this to rising refinery prices driven by geopolitical instability in the Middle East. Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding a new fuel marking system in BiH, which is estimated to be six times more expensive than the equivalent system in Serbia, potentially adding significant costs to consumers.

On a broader economic scale, Bosnia and Herzegovina reported a significant foreign trade deficit of 8.07 billion KM for the first seven months of 2026, driven by a rapid increase in imports, particularly from China.
