Fuel Prices Drop in João Pessoa, Brazil, After Procon-JP Survey

A survey by the João Pessoa municipal consumer protection office (Procon-JP) released on May 19 found lower pump prices for gasoline, ethanol and diesel across the city. The cheapest regular‑gasoline price fell from R$ 6.19 to R$ 6.18 per litre, while the highest price dropped from R$ 6.93 to R$ 6.49 for cash payments. Ethanol’s lowest price fell from R$ 4.61 to R$ 4.09, with the top price unchanged at R$ 4.99. Diesel S10 fell from R$ 6.74 to R$ 6.19 at its cheapest station, though the highest price rose slightly from R$ 7.39 to R$ 7.49. Common diesel decreased from R$ 6.37 to R$ 6.28. Natural‑gas vehicle (GNV) also saw a drop from R$ 4.85 to R$ 4.69. The study covered 110 stations; 80 kept prices stable, 21 reduced them, and the remainder varied. Procon‑JP secretary Junior Pires highlighted the list of the city’s cheapest stations.
