Fuel prices fall in Germany and Austria as oil prices retreat
In Germany, the ADAC reported that the average price of Super E10 fell to €1.918 per litre, 6.3 cents cheaper than the previous week, while diesel dropped to €1.883 per litre, down 6.9 cents. The decline follows a fall in the Brent crude price from above $110 to under $100 a barrel.
In Austria’s Carinthia region, the median diesel price in May was €1.920 per litre, 17 cents lower than in April and 32 cents below the March peak. The median price for Eurosuper was €1.801 per litre, eight cents higher than April but twelve cents below the March high. A slight uptick was noted at the start of June. Both the ADAC and Austria’s VCÖ suggest that further price reductions are possible, while the VCÖ also recommends fuel‑saving measures such as reduced speed, careful driving and car‑pooling.
