Fuel prices fluctuate across major Indian cities

Fuel prices in several Indian cities have shown recent fluctuations. In Chennai, petrol and diesel prices remained stable at Rs 107.77 and Rs 99.55 per litre respectively as of late August 2026. This follows a series of cumulative increases since May, driven by surging global crude oil prices resulting from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

In Odisha, Bhubaneswar reported stable rates with petrol at approximately Rs 108.97 and diesel at Rs 100.68 per litre. Meanwhile, Cuttack saw marginal declines in both fuel types. Across major Indian metropolitan areas, petrol prices vary significantly, with Kolkata recording the highest rate at Rs 113.51 per litre and Delhi at Rs 102.12 per litre. Diesel rates range from Rs 95.20 in Delhi to Rs 99.82 in Kolkata.
