Poland fuel prices: New maximum limits set for late August

Poland's Ministry of Energy has issued new maximum fuel price limits, continuing the 'Ceny Paliwa Niżej' (CPN) support program. Under this temporary measure, which is set to expire on August 31, the VAT rate on gasoline and diesel has been reduced from 23 percent to 8 percent.

For Friday, August 28, the maximum retail prices are set at 6.57 PLN per liter for 95-octane gasoline, 6.37 PLN for 98-octane gasoline, and 7.36 PLN for diesel. While gasoline prices remain relatively stable compared to previous days, diesel prices are seeing a notable decrease.

The CPN program was reactivated to mitigate the impact of rising global oil prices caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The government's intervention is expected to cost the state budget approximately 495 million PLN for this final two-week period of August. Failure to comply with these maximum price limits can result in fines of up to 1 million PLN for fuel retailers.
