Bosnia and Herzegovina fuel and gas prices surge amid global oil market turmoil

The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved a 14.42 % increase in the wholesale price of natural gas, raising it to 990.19 KM per 1,000 standard cubic metres effective 1 July 2026. The hike follows a rise in the purchase price set by Gazprom Export and reflects broader increases in international energy markets.

At the same time, retail fuel prices across the country have jumped. In Sarajevo, diesel now sells for up to 3.36 KM per litre and gasoline (Super 95) ranges between 2.67 KM and 3.17 KM. In Tuzla, diesel reached 3.28 KM per litre, while the cheapest price recorded was 3.00 KM. In the Republika Srpska, prices again exceeded three marks per litre, with drivers reporting diesel at 3.00 KM‑3.36 KM. In the Federation, a single pump in Nišići recorded diesel at 3.76 KM per litre.

Officials in both entities say the adjustments are driven by rising crude‑oil prices on the world market, spurred by heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, rather than by domestic policy decisions. They emphasise that supply remains stable while consumer costs rise.
