Honduras to subsidize diesel prices for 30 days

The Government of Honduras has announced a series of temporary measures to mitigate the impact of rising international petroleum prices on the national economy. Starting October 5, the state will absorb L12.01 per gallon of diesel for 30 days by covering the Aporte para la Conservación del Patrimonio Vial (ACPV) tax. This measure aims to protect sectors such as public transport, freight, agriculture, and food distribution.

While diesel prices remain stabilized, other fuels will see increases. In Tegucigalpa, super gasoline will rise by L3.44 to L156.61 per gallon, and regular gasoline will increase by L2.66 to L137.92, though the government will maintain a 70% subsidy on the regular gasoline increase. Kerosene and vehicular LPG will also experience price hikes. Domestic LPG prices will remain stable due to a temporary subsidy of approximately L54 per cylinder.

Authorities stated that these fiscal efforts are intended to curb inflationary pressure on households and productive activities. The diesel subsidy is expected to last until November 4, 2026, depending on market conditions.
