Fuel prices in Cheb reach regional highs amid temperature-driven value shifts

Fuel prices in the Cheb district of the Karlovy Vary Region are currently the highest in the region, with gasoline averaging 41.61 CZK and diesel at 45.15 CZK per liter. This price elevation is partly attributed to high demand from neighboring Germany.

In addition to regional price fluctuations, physical properties of fuel can impact the amount of energy received per liter. Because gasoline and diesel are liquids, their volume changes with temperature. When fuel is colder, its density increases, meaning a single liter contains more mass and usable energy than a liter of warmer fuel. For example, refueling 50 liters of gasoline at 10°C provides approximately the same amount of fuel as 50.95 liters would at 30°C, potentially allowing drivers to gain nearly a liter of value by refueling during cooler night or early morning hours.
