Fuel prices in India remain unchanged despite rising crude oil costs

Fuel prices for petrol, diesel, and CNG remained unchanged in major Indian cities on August 18, 2026. Government oil marketing companies, including HPCL, BPCL, and Indian Oil, maintained current retail rates despite fluctuations in the international crude oil market.

In Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹102.12 per liter and diesel at ₹95.20 per liter. Other major cities show varying rates: Mumbai petrol is ₹111.12, Kolkata is ₹113.43, Chennai is ₹107.75, and Bengaluru is ₹110.93. Hyderabad currently has the highest petrol price at ₹115.69 per liter.

While domestic prices have held steady, international Brent crude oil has been trading near $91 per barrel. Because India imports over 85% of its crude oil requirements, sustained high international prices pose a risk of increasing the national import bill and driving domestic inflation.
