Fuel prices remain stable in India as Malaysia announces increases

Fuel prices in India remained largely stable across major cities on August 27, 2026, despite volatility in global crude markets and geopolitical uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz. State-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum maintained current rates for petrol and diesel.

In India, Hyderabad recorded the highest petrol price at ₹115.69 per litre, while Chandigarh offered the cheapest diesel at ₹86.09 per litre. In New Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹102.12 and diesel at ₹95.20. While some regional fluctuations were noted, such as minor decreases in Bhubaneswar, the overall trend for major metropolitan areas remained steady.

In Malaysia, the finance ministry announced weekly fuel price increases effective from August 27 to September 2, 2026. The price of unsubsidised B10/B15 diesel rose to RM4.72 per litre, while unsubsidised RON 95 petrol increased to RM3.82 per litre. Subsidised RON 95 remains at RM1.99 per litre under the Budi Madani scheme.
