Fuel prices in Portugal rise amid international market shifts

Fuel prices rose this week, with the ERSE report indicating a 3.8% increase in gasoline and a 4.0% increase in diesel compared to the previous week. This trend is primarily driven by international refined fuel quotations.

ERSE utilizes three distinct metrics to track fuel costs:

1. Efficient Price (Preço Eficiente): A reference value calculated by ERSE considering international prices, logistics, transport, taxes, and biofuel incorporation. It is not a mandatory maximum price.

2. Portal Price (Preço de Pórtico): The advertised price shown at gas stations before any discounts are applied.

3. Discounted Price (Preço com Descontos): An indicator intended to reflect the actual amount paid by consumers, accounting for loyalty cards, vouchers, and promotional campaigns. This value represents an average, as final costs vary by station and specific consumer discounts.
