Türkiye ends Eşel Mobil fuel system, implementing gradual tax increases

The Eşel Mobil system, which was implemented to mitigate the impact of global oil price fluctuations and exchange rate volatility on fuel prices in Türkiye, has officially ended following a Presidential decision published in the Official Gazette.

To prevent sudden price shocks and combat inflation, the government has introduced a gradual transition model for gasoline Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV). Instead of a single large increase, the ÖTV for 95-octane unleaded gasoline will be set at 7.90 TL per liter in October, 11.36 TL in November, and will return to its pre-system level of 14.8277 TL in December 2026.

LPG prices will also see an increase as the system returns to its previous structure, with the ÖTV rising from 9.2190 TL to 11.3830 TL per kilogram, leading to an expected pump price increase of approximately 1.48 TL. Diesel prices are expected to rise by approximately 3.60 TL per liter, following a planned increase in diesel ÖTV to 6 TL.

While sector experts initially calculated potential single-step gasoline price hikes of up to 12.48 TL, the gradual tax implementation aims to limit the immediate impact on consumers.
