Turkey fuel prices expected to rise due to tax adjustments
Fuel prices in Turkey are expected to increase significantly starting November 1, 2026, due to a scheduled increase in Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV). According to industry sources and recent presidential decrees, the second stage of a three-part tax adjustment plan is set to take effect.
For gasoline, the ÖTV per liter is expected to rise from 7.90 TL to 11.36 TL, which, including 20% VAT, could result in a pump price increase of approximately 4.15 TL per liter. For diesel (motorin), the ÖTV is projected to rise from 6 TL to 9 TL, leading to an estimated increase of 3.60 TL per liter.
If these increases are implemented, diesel prices are expected to exceed the 100 TL per liter threshold for the first time in the country's history, while gasoline prices are anticipated to surpass 80 TL per liter. Because November 1 falls on a Sunday and international markets are closed over the weekend, there is uncertainty regarding whether the new prices will be reflected at the pump on Sunday or Monday, November 2.
