Fuel prices in India remain stable across major cities

Fuel prices for petrol, diesel, and CNG remain unchanged across major Indian cities as of late August 2026. Oil marketing companies (OMCs) continue to maintain steady rates following previous fluctuations.

In Hyderabad, petrol prices are among the highest in the country at approximately ₹115.69 per litre, while Thiruvananthapuram sees some of the highest diesel costs. Conversely, Chandigarh offers some of the most competitive rates, with diesel priced at approximately ₹89.47 per litre.

In the capital, New Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹102.12 per litre and diesel at ₹95.20 per litre. Other major metropolitan areas such as Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata also report stable pricing. The stability follows a period of cumulative increases earlier in the year, which were attributed to surging global crude oil prices and disruptions in key transit routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
