Fuel prices rise in Messenia, impacting households and farmers
Fuel prices in Messenia have reached high levels, placing significant pressure on households, professionals, and particularly the agricultural sector. Gasoline is priced at approximately 2.13 euros per liter, while diesel reaches 2.15 euros per liter.
Giorgos Kapironis, a board member of the Federation of Petrol Station Owners, noted that fuel costs have risen to levels exceeding basic goods, approaching the price of olive oil. It was highlighted that without current state and corporate subsidies, diesel prices would have already surpassed 2.20 euros per liter.
The agricultural sector faces the heaviest burden, as fuel is an essential daily requirement for operating machinery and conducting cultivation work. Many families are reportedly forced to reduce spending on other basic necessities to cover these increased energy obligations.
