Fuel prices rise in the Balearic Islands

Fuel prices in the Balearic Islands have risen significantly compared to last year, driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. On average, filling a diesel tank now costs 21.25 euros more, while gasoline costs have increased by 11.45 euros.

Joan Mayans, president of the Federation of Service Stations of the Balearic Islands, noted that diesel is currently priced at 1.950 euros per liter, up from 1.525 euros a year ago. Gasoline 95 is priced at 1.811 euros per liter, compared to 1.582 euros last year. Mayans indicated that price volatility is likely to continue as long as tensions between the US and Iran persist and the security of the Strait of Hormuz remains uncertain.

While the current tourist season has masked a decline in fuel consumption, Mayans warned that a drop in sales will become more evident once the summer season ends if prices do not stabilize.
