Fuel Prices Set to Decline Over Next Month in Both Azerbaijan and Ghana

Senior Energy Adviser Tom Kloza warned that gasoline prices are likely to fall within the next 30 days as global oil‑market pressures ease. He emphasized that refiners, not retail stations, earn the bulk of fuel profits and noted that station margins have risen from about 15 cents per gallon in 2007 to roughly 40 cents today, equating to about $4 gross profit on a 10‑gallon sale.

In Ghana, the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) projected a sharp drop in retail prices for petrol, diesel and LPG starting July 1, 2026, citing a 19.7 % decline in global crude prices and a modest appreciation of the cedi. COPEC expects petrol to trade between GHS 12.69/L and GHS 14.03/L, diesel between GHS 13.39/L and GHS 14.80/L, and LPG around GHS 10.05/kg. The chamber praised the government’s decision to allocate part of the Jubilee field’s crude to local refineries, which it says should ease import volumes and support the cedi.
