Fuel Prices Surge in South Bohemia and Crimea

In the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, gasoline (Natural 95) rose by 1.69 CZK to an average of 41.77 CZK per litre, while diesel increased by 4.87 CZK to 42.20 CZK. The hikes followed the termination of a government fuel‑price regulation and were amplified by the recent conflict in the Middle East, which pushed weekly price gains to 8.43 CZK for gasoline and 9.29 CZK for diesel. Nationwide, average prices stand at 42.04 CZK for gasoline and 42.24 CZK for diesel, with the cheapest fuel found in the Ústí nad Labem Region and the highest prices in Prague.

On the occupied Crimean peninsula, a Russian commentator reported gasoline costing 250 ruble per litre (about 68 CZK) and diesel prices doubling. Residents face electricity and water shortages, an immobilised economy, and are spending scarce money on generators. The commentator criticised local officials, including Crimea’s prime minister Sergei Aksjonov, and described the situation as a total collapse.
