Fuel-related vehicle fires reported in Bolivia and Argentina
Two separate fuel-related vehicle fires occurred in Bolivia and Argentina.
In Cochabamba, Bolivia, a Toyota van was destroyed by fire near the intersection of 6 de Agosto and Circuito Bolivia avenues. Preliminary police reports suggest the fire may have started following an illegal fuel loading at a nearby service station. While the driver escaped without injury, the vehicle was completely consumed by flames. Firefighters responded to extinguish the fire and prevent reignition.
In Argentina, a fuel tanker caught fire near a service station on National Route 14, approximately 20 kilometers north of Santo Tomé. The explosion caused minor injuries to two people, who were taken to a local hospital. The incident forced a total closure of the highway, a critical route for international cargo, causing significant traffic delays. Emergency services, including volunteer firefighters and national gendarmerie, worked to control the blaze and secure the perimeter before traffic was eventually normalized.
