Fuengirola launches digital literacy and fraud prevention initiatives
The Fuengirola City Council is launching several initiatives aimed at improving digital literacy and protecting citizens from online threats. Through the Consumer Affairs Department, the council is hosting training sessions focused on cybersecurity to help residents recognize common digital scams, including fraudulent online shopping, mobile banking threats, and deceptive emails or social media messages.
In a separate effort to combat disinformation, the City Council and the Málaga Press Association are organizing the ‘Prensa sin Edad’ workshop. This program is specifically designed for senior citizens to help them identify fake news, verify the reliability of digital content, and navigate social media and messaging apps more safely. The training will also introduce the use of conversational artificial intelligence as a tool for fact-checking information and images, aiming to reduce the digital divide for the elderly.
