Fuengirola reaches 1,500 plaques in ‘one child, one tree’ initiative
The Fuengirola municipal initiative ‘one child, one tree’ has surpassed 1,500 installed ceramic plaques across the city. Launched in 1998, the program allows resident children to have a personalized plaque featuring their name and birth date placed beside a tree selected by their family.
Mayor Ana Mula and Urban Ecology Councillor José Sánchez recently attended the installation of new plaques at Plaza Andalucía, the seafront near the Roman monument, and the junction of Avenida Juan Gómez ‘Juanito’ and Avenida de Mijas. The program aims to foster environmental responsibility and a connection to nature among younger generations while supporting the municipality’s efforts to expand urban tree cover.
