Fuengirola torture case: Six convicted for attacking Dutch national

The Provincial Court of Málaga has sentenced six individuals for the kidnapping and severe torture of a Dutch national in Fuengirola in May 2023. Three of the convicted individuals will serve nine and a half years in prison for kidnapping, torture, and violent robbery.

The victim was targeted following the disappearance of a cocaine shipment valued at over three million euros. During the assault, the victim was beaten, stabbed in the hands and feet, and had the first phalanges of both index fingers amputated. The victim was eventually found bleeding and severely injured in a remote area of Fuengirola after managing to reach a populated zone for help.

Investigations by the National Police's Organized Crime Section revealed a drug trafficking network operating between the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the Costa del Sol. The victim had traveled to Spain to attempt to clear his name regarding the missing narcotics after an inconclusive polygraph test in the United Kingdom.
