Fuenlabrada car accident disrupts Madrid Cercanías train service
A car plunged approximately six meters from a bridge on Calle Grecia onto the railway tracks near the Fuenlabrada Cercanías station in Madrid on Saturday morning. The accident occurred around 10:30 AM, causing significant disruptions to the C-5 line and other services, including Media Distancia and Alvia, between the Humanes and Leganés stations.
The driver, a man between 30 and 40 years old, managed to exit the vehicle unaided before emergency services arrived. While he appeared uninjured at the scene, SUMMA 112 medics transported him to the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre for precautionary checks to rule out internal injuries.
Madrid regional firefighters conducted a precision operation to remove the vehicle from the tracks to avoid further damage to the railway infrastructure. The incident caused damage to the overhead lines (catenary), necessitating repairs. Renfe implemented shuttle services between Humanes and Leganés, and passengers traveling to Móstoles were advised to transfer at Leganés. Following the clearance of the tracks, service was gradually restored with average delays of approximately 12 minutes. Local police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
