Orihuela closes La Glea and Aguamarina beaches due to contamination
The municipality of Orihuela has implemented a preventive closure of La Glea and Aguamarina beaches in Orihuela Costa due to water contamination. Recent testing conducted under the Water Bath Quality Control Program by the Conselleria de Medio Ambiente y Agua revealed pollution levels exceeding double the maximum permissible limits. Authorities have identified the cause as likely being of “residual origin.”
The beaches will remain closed to swimmers until subsequent analyses confirm that water quality has returned to safe parameters. Local officials are currently working with technicians from the General Directorate of Water to identify and resolve the source of the contamination.
