Fuerza del Pueblo criticizes Dominican education management

José David Báez, spokesperson for the Fuerza del Pueblo party, has criticized the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Education, claiming the current minister lacks the management capacity and social awareness required for the role.

Báez highlighted several issues within the educational system, including a reported reduction of 106,000 student enrollments among children aged 6 to 11 since 2019. He also pointed to a significant increase in bureaucracy, noting that the ministry employs over 127,000 administrative staff compared to approximately 135,000 teachers.

Further criticisms included a deficit in classroom infrastructure, with only about 600 new classrooms built during the current administration despite a widespread need. The legislator also cited poor maintenance of school facilities, such as bathrooms and laboratories, attributing these failures to excessive centralization of resources.
