Fuerza del Pueblo unveils RD 2044 infrastructure project for Santiago

The Fuerza del Pueblo political party has presented an updated version of the RD 2044 project in Santiago, a long-term infrastructure development initiative. Described by Vice Secretary General César Fernández as a vision for the future conceived by former President Leonel Fernández, the project is the result of over a decade of consultations with economic, social, and civil society sectors in the province.

A central component of the proposal is the creation of a national railway system. This system aims to connect Santiago with Puerto Plata and Manzanillo in Montecristi via passenger and cargo trains. Additionally, the plan includes rail connections to the ports of Caucedo and Haina in Santo Domingo to link Santiago with international markets.

The initiative seeks to establish Santiago as a major economic, cultural, agro-industrial, and business hub for the northern region of the country. Technical experts also participated in the presentation to address internal mobility and water resource management within the province.
