FUFA concludes consultations for new Women’s Football Strategy

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has concluded a two-day stakeholder consultation workshop to develop a new Women’s Football Strategy. Supported by FIFA through its Women’s Football Development Programme, the initiative aims to create a four-year roadmap for the growth of the sport in Uganda, replacing the previous framework that expired in 2019.

The consultations involved discussions on several key areas, including grassroots and youth development, national teams, technical education, governance, media, marketing, and competitions. The goal is to align the new strategy with FUFA’s broader technical development agenda and its Vision 2025–2029.

FIFA Women’s Football Expert Thuba Sibanda commended Uganda for its proactive use of FIFA-supported initiatives, such as the Women’s Football Campaign, League Development, and the FIFA Commercial Strategy Pilot. While praising the structural progress, Sibanda noted that the next step for Uganda is to translate these developmental efforts into improved international results, specifically aiming for youth teams to qualify for the World Cup.
