Fufore Local Government Chairman Yahya Saidu dies in office

Dr. Yahya Saidu, the Executive Chairman of the Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State, has died. Saidu, who was sworn into office on July 15, 2026, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Friday, October 9.

Saidu was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag-bearer for Fufore and was described by local leaders as a philanthropist and dedicated public servant. His death marks the second time a Fufore council chairman has died in office in less than two years, following the passing of Alhaji Shuaibu Babas in April 2025.

Hon. Aliyu Boya Wakili, representing the Fufore/Song Federal Constituency, expressed profound sadness, noting that Saidu’s passing creates a vacuum in local administration and the PDP. Burial arrangements according to Islamic rites are expected to be announced by the family.
