Fugitive arrested in Ho Chi Minh City with 1.3kg of methamphetamine

Authorities in Vietnam have arrested Phan Văn Phóng, a fugitive who fled to Ho Chi Minh City to avoid serving a 30-month prison sentence for ‘concealing property obtained through crime’.

During the arrest on August 13, police discovered a significant quantity of illegal substances inside Phóng’s vehicle. The seized items included approximately 1.3kg of methamphetamine, more than 200 ecstasy pills, and four packets of a liquid drug commonly referred to as ‘nước vui’.

Following the apprehension, Phóng and the confiscated narcotics were handed over to the Ho Chi Minh City Police for further investigation and legal processing.
